Being able to listen to radio, tapes or even gramophone records in a car was originally a luxury, but has now become standard. You can follow this development in our car radio area. On the first shelf are car radios from Blaupunkt and Philips and a Swedish car radio from Centrum radio. Several of the devices have been manufactured for different car brands, such as Studebaker, Chrysler and Hudson - you can see some of them on the lowest shelf. There is an English car radio designed for a Jaguar on the same shelf. We also have Volvo radios that were developed in collaboration with the Japanese factories that made them. The oldest devices are made in America and come from the 1930s - they are so big that they did not fit in the car's dashboard.
